Brian Long
Brian Long was appointed Chief of Police for the Burlington Police Department in 2021 after serving with that agency since 1995. As Chief, he is responsible for nearly 200 staff employees, a budget of $18 million, and the safety of 55,000 residents.
He has been a leader in the Stepping Up Initiative, a program that works with jail officials to divert mentally ill subjects so they can receive medical and counseling services.
Brian earned his associate’s degree from ACC’s Criminal Justice Technology program in 2006. As a result of his degree, Brian moved through the ranks of the police department, including work as an investigator. In 2016, he was promoted to Captain and became commander of the Professional Standards Division.
Brian graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in 2014.
